Hello! I’m Kayla Preston, a student intern at Finnell Counseling. I am a graduate student at Walden University pursuing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently in the process of completing my Internship #2 with a graduation date of November 2026. I earned my bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from Spalding University in 2023.

With an extensive background in childcare, I bring a passion for helping clients understand how their development in childhood impacts their adult lives. My time spent in Practicum and Internship #1 focused mainly on depression, neurodivergence, anxiety, and women's health. This equips me with the knowledge to provide coping skills and share personal experience with coping skills as a woman and neurodivergent individual. After first experiencing the benefits of therapy myself, I realized I wanted to help others grow and feel heard. I strive to provide genuine compassion, comfort, and optimism with clients. I also have a strong interest in eventually incorporating trauma based therapy practices like EMDR once licensed.

Outside of work my hobbies are, listening to podcasts and music, coloring, running, watching true crime shows, going to thrift stores, and relaxing with my cat.
